Here are some of the signs!
1. Poor Grades
This one’s obvious. But most parents always blame the child.
'She isn't serious about her studies,' or 'she needs to concentrate more,' are just some of the common responses parents (even well-meaning ones) exhibit when confronted with their child's poor academic record. However, if your child consistently gets low grades, it is a warning sign that they're struggling at school.
2. Homework’s Taking Longer Than Usual

Secondly, your child may also need help with studies if it’s taking her forever to complete homework. This becomes a serious issue when most of a child’s after-school time is spent on homework.
Of course, there’s no reason to worry if she is getting more work. However, you should take some time to get familiar with your child’s school homework policy, and roughly how much time is required for homework at different grade levels.
3. Absenteeism

Many children who struggle with their academics often start to feel reluctant to go to school altogether. Sometimes, difficulties understanding just one subject can also result in growing absenteeism.
4. Reluctance to Talk About School

This follows from the previous point. When a child finds it hard to cope with one or more subjects, it can also result in a complete change of attitude about school. Sometimes it takes the more obvious form of anger and bitterness towards school.
But at other times, kids complain about being 'bored,' which is also a sign that they are finding it hard to follow things in class.
Sometimes, kids complain about boredom if they are already familiar with the material being covered in a particular unit. But more often than not, boredom results from a lack of understanding.
5. Complaints From School

This is one of the most overtly apparent signs. But once again, parents often react to complaints from school with denial.
It is also natural to argue against or simply dismiss what the teacher has to say about your child’s performance and/or behaviour at school. But you need to be willing to listen to what the teacher has to say, as she can also offer suggestions on best to move forward.
These are some major warning signs that your child needs an extra push at school.
